Former heavyweight contender David Price has been discussing fellow retired Liverpudlian fighter Tony Bellew and has claimed that ‘he will fight again.’
Bellew went out on a high, even though his last fight was a loss. It came at the very top against Oleksandr Usyk in a bout for all four cruiserweight titles at Manchester Arena in 2018, and Usyk will now go on to fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship.
Bellew was already in possession of one of them, the WBC, having beaten Ilunga Makabu in front of his beloved fans at the home of his favourite football club, Everton, in 2016.
In between those contests, he also had two huge and high-earning nights on Sky Sports Box Office when he served up back-to-back knockout defeats of former cruiserweight king and heavyweight champion David Haye.
Since then, ‘The Bomber’ has become a popular pundit with DAZN, but Price thinks he will be back.
Speaking to IFL TV he compared the two men’s situations.
“He probably will [fight again.] He’s probably got more time on his hands than me. I am completely committed to what I’m doing running business but he’s on a golf course and doing commentary. That’s an easy life he’ll have had time to think about fighting.”
He added that Bellew will need more stimulation and boxing might provide it.
“He needs something to get his juices going. I don’t think that golf course will do it.”
