Ricky Hatton has commented on the leak of a video Kell Brook, calling the person who filmed it a ‘rat.’
A video began circulating on social media this week, first obtained by The Sun, in which Brook was seen sniffing white powder. Fans condemned the clip being released, and Hatton is firmly in that camp.
He told Boxing Social that whoever filmed the video was taking advantage of the fighter.
“You don’t know whether he was p***ing about or something like that. But I don’t condone it, I’ve been there myself.”
“I’d like to give the person a slap who took the video a slap because it looked like it was his house … it wasn’t like a house party or anything like that … it seemed like it was a mate or someone that he’d, out the goodness of his heart, said come to my house and have a drink or whatever.”
“To take a liberty and advantage of something like that, I think it’s f***ing terrible. Not condoning what Kell allegedly was doing, but you invite someone in your home you don’t expect taking pictures of anything.”
“To do that, I think – rat.”
Hatton has been open about his drug and alcohol addiction in the past, and has turned his life around whilst helping many fans to do the same.
There has been no comment from Brook on the incident, and it’s unclear how it might hamper a ring return that has been talked up of late.
The fighter officially retired from professional boxing in 2022 following a dominant victory over longtime rival, Amir Khan. Recently, his name has been mentioned alongside the likes of Conor Benn, Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr.
Brook has been open about struggling to adapt to life outside of the ring, and may be seeking a return to the sport that brought him so much glory in order to keep busy and stay healthy.
