Oscar Rivas will now face the unbeaten Ryan Rozicki for the inaugural WBC bridgerweight title at L’Olympia in Montreal, Canada, on October 22.
Canadian Rozicki is a replacement for American Bryant Jennings who refused to adhere to local Covid-19 quarantine regulations.
To save the promotion, the WBC has allowed the No.18 cruiserweight Rozicki (13-0, 13 KOs) to step in against its No.1 ranked bridgerweight Rivas (27-1-0, 19 KOs).
Rivas, born in Colombia, but now Montreal-based, had previously stopped Jennings in 12 rounds at heavyweight in January 2019.
The bridgerweight division spans between 200lbs to 224lbs to accommodate smaller heavyweights.
