American heavyweight prospect Jared Anderson has made a picture perfect start to his professional career, defeating all 14 men to share the ring with him inside the distance.
One of the shining lights of Top Rank’s booming stable, many are already convinced that Anderson is a world champion in waiting.
In a recent feature for Top Rank’s YouTube channel, former four weight world champion Roy Jones Jr echoed that sentiment, telling the 23 year old he is “far ahead of the game.”
“You’re on it! Not many heavyweights even think on that level. For you to be that far ahead of the game already as a heavyweight, it’s going to be very rough for anybody to deal with you.”
Anderson returns to action this weekend against former world champion Charles Martin, who has been drafted in as a late replacement due to VISA issues for original opponent Zhan Kossobutskiy.
Despite Martin representing another step up in quality for ‘The Real Big Baby,’ most are predicting the blue chip prospect to come through the test with flying colours and propel himself towards bigger and better things.
The only problem matchmakers may have with Anderson is getting him some rounds, as he has not yet been past six in his professional career thus far.
Top Rank’s other rising heavyweight prospect, Arslanbek Makhmudov, will fight Nigerian heavyweight Raphael Akpejiori on the card, with a fight with Anderson believed to be in waiting should the Russian emerge victorious.
With Anderson’s best years all ahead of him, one wouldn’t bet against him asserting himself at the top of the blue ribbon division in the not too distant future.
