The Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya promotional drama continues to play out in the public eye.
Following legal action on both sides and digs through the media, it appears that the fighter and promoter are still not on the same page.
Garcia first expressed distaste with De La Hoya and others at Golden Boy Promotions after his first career loss to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. Post-fight, neither De La Hoya nor Bernard Hopkins attended his press conference.
Later in the year Garcia’s team alleged GBP had breached their contract, and a legal battle began. Despite that, the 25-year-old fought under the banner for his comeback bout against Oscar Duarte in December, a seventh round stoppage win.
He would go on to call out WBC Champion Devin Haney and begin early talks, but soon after ruled that fight out and publicly declared he wanted to face WBA Champion Rolando Romero instead.
De La Hoya today revealed that he believed a fight against 28-1 Jose Ramirez was close to being made, saying that ‘Rolly’ Romero has priced himself out.
Looking like @RyanGarcia vs jose Ramirez is getting close and happening.

Garcia, however, said no. Also posting on social media, the popular fighter wanted to make his feelings clear.
No Ramirez. Let’s make that clear.

He then posted what everyone was thinking: ‘Ryan Garcia vs Oscar De La Hoya at this point.’

Fans are no closer to knowing more about the return of Garcia, but it seems that any issues in his promotional relationship are far from being solved.
