Ryan Garcia is riding high off his huge upset win over Devin Haney this past weekend and has already made moves regarding his next fight by calling out UK fighter for a showdown in London.
Many people are wondering if Garcia pulled off a masterstroke in the build-up to his world title fight with Haney. He was behaving incredibly erratically, saying odd things, appeared to be on the edge throughout and even drank a beer as he weighed in more than 3lbs over the weight limit.
However, despite some questions if the fight should be going ahead at all, Garcia was hugely impressive. He managed to put Haney down three times and hurt him often with his lightning-fast and powerful left hook.
Haney picked up some of the in-between rounds but lost the decision on points, however he did not lose his WBC title as Garcia was over the championship limit for the bout.
Since the fight, Garcia has been back on social media and mentioned a number of names who he might fight next.
One name he mentioned is British contender Conor Benn, who posted a message to complement Garcia on his performance.
“Great performance from Garcia I called it. Credit to @Realdevinhaney for getting up off the floor 3 times. I will fight any of these guys”
Benn then got called out by Garcia for a fight in London.
“Let’s run it in London at the 02. I will fracture you SPLEIN and then eat it. Shoutout London 🇬🇧”
The duo then continued to go back and forth, with Benn bringing up King Ry’s former rival Gervonta Davis.
“Don’t be another loud mouth like Gervumpalumpa if you are really about it let’s do it next and I will smash your teeth down your neck you w**ker.”
Garcia then brought up Benn’s struggles to fight in the UK since his failed drugs tests back in October 2022.
“You know I’m about the business but you can’t even fight in your own country wtf.”
Benn finished the exchange by insisting that he would be willing to face King Ry in any location.
“We can fight anywhere you want and we can meet in the centre of the ring and have it “ Para La Raza “ Let’s do it next no excuses.”
