Ryan Garcia has reacted to Jaron Ennis’s recent victory over Karen Chukhadzhia, expressing confidence in his ability to beat him. The popular Californian boxer took to social media, claiming he could easily knock out Ennis.
On his official “X” account, Garcia addressed his followers and issued a warning to the welterweight champion:
“Boots [Jaron Ennis] will get knocked out by me. This ref still sucks. And Eddie [Eddie Hearn] gotta stop calling his fighters legends prematurely,” Garcia wrote on “X.”
In the post-fight press conference after the bout against Chukhadzhia, Ennis responded to Garcia’s comments:
“Just bring him on (next). C’mon, all he does is talk and tweet, you know what I’m saying. I’m here to make history. I guarantee you, I’ll put him out… FOR SURE,” stated Ennis.
The fight between Ennis and Chukhadzhia took place on November 9, 2024, at the iconic Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Ennis successfully defended his IBF welterweight championship title.
However, the bout was much more competitive than experts anticipated.
Chukhadzhia, who had previously been defeated by Ennis, came in strong, complicating the champion’s performance. The Ukrainian fighter showed better preparation this time, preventing Ennis from securing a quick and decisive victory.
Although Jaron Ennis retained his title, the fight left doubts among fans, who expected a more dominant display from the champion.
Ryan Garcia’s comments were not the only ones stirring up conversation. Ennis’s narrow victory sparked diverse opinions among fans and experts. While some defended Ennis’s performance, others felt it fell short, especially for a champion of his caliber.
Terence Crawford, another major figure in boxing, also reacted after the fight. Unlike Garcia, Crawford chose to encourage Ennis, highlighting the importance of continuing to work on improving.
Ryan Garcia’s statements appear to hint at a possible rivalry with Ennis, which could lead to a highly anticipated matchup for fans. Although both fighters compete in different divisions, Garcia has shown interest in moving up in weight to challenge Ennis.
Ennis’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has already commented on Garcia’s interest in challenging the welterweight champion. In a recent interview with FightHype, Hearn said:
“[Laughs]. Come on, let’s be real, yeah. There’s no way in a million years they’re going to fight Boots. If they want it, they can come out and fight Boots first fight back for the world welterweight title. No problem. But they won’t, but we’d love to make that fight happen,” said Hearn.
