Just three weeks out from their blockbuster clash in Las Vegas, Ryan Garcia has poked fun at Gervonta Davis over the demands Davis’ team have imposed on him in the fight contract.
The two young stars will lock horns at the T-Mobile Arena on April 22 in what is widely expected to be one of the biggest boxing events commercially of this calendar year.
After ‘Tank’ criticised Garcia’s punch volume in a video of him hitting the heavy bag, ‘King Ryan’ responded with a tongue in cheek comment regarding the contractual restrictions he’s been put under.
“If you didn’t put in the contract that I can’t throw more than 7 punches then I’d throw more than that.”

Despite both men having campaigned at 140lbs in recent outings, the contest will take place at a catchweight of 136lbs – a factor that most in the sport feel will favour Davis.
Garcia also must reportedly adhere to a 10lb rehydration clause, meaning he must not weigh over 146lbs on fight night or risk incurring a hefty financial penalty.
Whether these terms are fair or not, boxing fans across the globe are just happy the all-American mega fight will take place, after a topsy turvy negotiation process which, at one point, looked destined to collapse.
Garcia and Davis are two of the biggest draws in the sport, and their bout is tipped to generate huge numbers in both pay per view sales as well as the gate on the night.
There is also every chance they could do it all over again, with a rematch clause in place of Garcia upsets the bookmakers’ odds and defeats the Baltimore puncher on the 22nd.
