After weeks of erratic behaviour, Ryan Garcia shows no signs of settling down into camp and has now sent a bizarre Mike Tyson threat to Devin Haney.
Garcia and Haney meet for the WBC super-lightweight title at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in April and in the build-up Garcia has done plenty of odd things.
He provoked his opponent by leaking sparring footage, insulting his religion, complained about the ticket price for the event, admitted to smoking weed and much more.
Garcia is stepping up in a huge bout for the second time having fallen short against Gervonta Davis last April, while Haney cleared out all four belts in the lightweight division before moving up in his last fight and taking a belt at the new weight at the first time of asking.
Now he has taken to social media to serve up a strange threat to his opponent ahead of what is a much anticipated fight.
A new post on X sees him channelling one of Mike Tyson’s most infamous moments and threatening to bite the ear off Haney as Tyson did to Holyfield all those years ago.
“I might bite Haney[‘s] ears. Mike [Tyson] bit one ear. I’m [gonn]a bite both. I’m hungry.”
Garcia’s ex-girlfriend is one person who has expressed concern for Garcia though as of yet no one else has stepped in to stop him and right now the fight seems like it will still be going ahead even though other boxers have now started to offer to step in to replace him.
