Ryan Garcia Names His Top Three Fighters

Ryan Garcia is set for the fight of his life next, as he takes on Gervonta Davis in the most highly anticipated clash of the year.

Ahead of the catchweight bout, Garcia was quizzed on who are the top three fighters of all-time and was confident in his answer.

At just 24-years-old, Ryan Garcia has already accumulated a undefeated résumé consisting of twenty-three wins, with nineteen stoppage victories, despite having boxed just four times since 2019 in a recent spell of inactivity.

He will be the underdog ahead of his fight against ‘Tank’, who is a former WBA and IBF super-featherweight world champion and is deemed to not only be more comfortable at the weight, but to have defeated the better calibre of opposition, in comparison to the young Garcia.

Nevertheless, ‘King Ry’ remains confident, and his composure and self-belief has shone through in the build-up to the fight. In an interview with Showtime Boxing, Garcia had no trouble picking his top three fighters of all-time.

“Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and Manny Pacquiao, those are the three.”

Garcia’s top three not only shows his knowledge of the sport, with each fighter coming from a different era, but also shows his respect for those who transition through the weight classes to become multi-division world champions. Barring Muhammad Ali, who many consider to be the greatest of all-time, Garcia’s picks of Leonard and Pac-Man consist of world titles across a combined thirteen-divisions, spanning from flyweight to light-heavyweight.

Whilst Garcia has also moved from lightweight to super-lightweight this year, he did not win a world title in the 135lb division.

Garcia takes on Davis at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and is available to watch on both Showtime and DAZN PPV.
