Ryan Garcia Names The Current ‘Face Of Boxing’ But Says He’s Next Up

Ryan Garcia class he will be the next man to become the global face of boxing.

Garcia has a huge social media following and is hugely popular in the sport even though he came up short in his last fight. That was a big step up against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis back in April which saw him lose by knockout after taking a fierce shot to the body. Before that, Garcia had impressive wins against the likes of British former champion Luke Campbell.

Speaking to The Last Stand, he was told his friend and sometime campmate Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez sees himself as the current face of boxing but was asked his view on the matter.

“I’m the next face of boxing.”

He then took aim at his last opponent just days after naming Tyson Fury as an ‘all time great.’

“Tank’s not the next face of boxing. He did 250k buys, my first pay per view I did 1.2 million buys. We did it together but that was my blueprint. It wasn’t his. That’s why he put all those things on me ’cause he didn’t want to eh fight to happen.”

He then restated his claim about being the best face of the sport.

“I’m the face of boxing next, after Canelo. He’s the face of boxing right now but I’m the next one. Tank, he’s good, he’s a pay-per-view fighter but he’s not the face of boxing. I am. Remember this five years from now.”

Next up for Garcia is a ring return on February 2 against Oscar Duarte Jurado as he rebuilds toward the top of the sport.
