Ryan Garcia continues to be defiant about the state of his mental health having been asked about it again ahead of his fight with Devin Haney.
The tension-filled lead-up to the highly anticipated showdown persisted as the two fighters squared off at the onset of fight week and began shoving one another.
The super lightweight world title bout has been fuelled by these sorts of ongoing verbal and physical feuds since it was announced and Garcia has been relentless in his efforts to rattle Haney, discussing various topics intended to rile Haney.
Because of this and because he has admitted to smoking weed, shared conspiracy theories and much more, people have been concerned about his mental health given he has had issues with it in the past.
Now, speaking to Boxing Social, Garcia was asked how he felt.
“Fast. Strong. I can do this all day. All the shit I seen, been through, I’m a little mental but I’m ready to destroy that m**********. y’all weren’t talking about about Mike Tyson when he was like this. You respect him now right?”
He was then asked about his mental health specifically and had a simple answer.
“I haven’t tested positive for one drug, that’s all I got to say.”
Set to unfold over 12 rounds at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn this Saturday, the bout presents Garcia with an opportunity to claim his first world championship title.
Meanwhile, for Haney, the fight marks an inaugural defence of the belt he won from Regis Prograis after transitioning to the new weight class following a dominant reign in the lightweight division which culminated in his undisputed status.
The showdown takes place on Saturday night and is available to be purchased on DAZN PPV.
