Ryan Garcia has commented on the beef between Jake Paul and Floyd Mayweather, predicting how fight might turn out as well as scolding the latter for a recent street altercation.
As per video footage obtained by TMZ, Mayweather recently squared up to Jake Paul in Miami, accompanied by plenty of others in support. Paul ran for it, later calling out the hall-of-famer for a boxing contest rather than a one-sided street brawl.
Garcia – who is friends with Paul – tipped the boxing legend to beat the novice if they did fight, but was adamant that Mayweather didn’t have it in him to get the knockout.
“You know what, man, Floyd’s getting up there in age. He’ll probably still beat up Jake, but guess what? Jake won’t get knocked out. 100% that. He couldn’t knock out Logan.”
The bout with Logan Paul was exhibition rules – despite the latter claiming he won in the aftermath – and it’s unclear how either man approached it in terms of power punches. Mayweather did, however, say that he was holding back and could’ve made it a ‘first round blowout.’
Garcia was then asked about the recent video showing Paul running from the 50-0 pro, who appeared to ambush him in the street with his team.
“You shouldn’t be running up on a guy with fifty dudes. That ain’t right.”
The seed is certainly planted for a fight between the pair, but with Mayweather firmly on the exhibition circuit and Paul facing a rematch with Tommy Fury to prove his legitimacy as a proper boxer, it doesn’t look likely anytime soon.
Both men do like a spectacle for financial gain, though, and are supremely talented at building such things up. It’s for this reason that them meeting in the ring can never quite be ruled out.
