Ryan Garcia insists that he would be able to defeat Gervonta Davis in a rematch, despite coming up short when the two men met last year.
Garcia and ‘Tank’ fought in one of the biggest fights of 2023, in a much-anticipated showdown live on PPV in Las Vegas, with Davis coming out on top.
Super lightweight star Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) has put the loss down to the details in his contract for the fight, which he lost via a punishing seventh-round knockout.
The 25-year-old is confident that he would beat the big punching lightweight in a rematch whilst speaking in an interview with Jack Alter, and claims that he took the fight for the benefit of boxing.
“You know I can beat him. It’s not excuses, it’s facts. He weight drained the f*** out of me, like, he f***ing didn’t let me rehydrate.
“He f***ing picked the ring to be so f***ing big, like, that was a big f***ing ring. Bro, that’s not easy. If you don’t know boxing, what I accepted was fricking crazy.
“I was tired of boxing being so boring. I said if nobody’s going to do it, I’ll do it. If nobody’s going to do this, I’ll show you how to do it. I’ll sacrifice my health, my life, to keep boxing moving forward as it should, as it will.”
The American’s next fight will be against Devin Haney for the WBC world super lightweight title, which will be staged at the Barclays Center in New York on April 20.
