Ryan Garcia’s behaviour has grown increasingly erratic in recent weeks and now people are growing concerned for him after his showing at the latest press conference to promote the Devin Haney fight.
Garcia is a young and vocal star who often takes to social media to air his beefs, and there have been plenty of them already this year.
He started by chasing a fight with Rolando Romero before focusing his attention on a verbal spat with Haney. WBC super-lightweight champion Haney took the bait and the pair signed to fight each other on April 20.
Since then he has fired shots in many directions at many different people, although he rather surprisingly gave an update on his often troubled relationship with his promoter Oscar De La Hoya and said it was ‘cool’ now.
One incident at the press conference was captured by DAZN and saw Haney giving some advice to Garcia.
“Stop the coke man it’s f****** up your voice.”
Garcia responded.
“I don’t do cocaine. I will do a live drug test. I drink and I smoke weed, and so has the majority of this room.”
Haney then showed up Garcia and reminded him of his job as a role model.
“What kind of example are you to the young people? Young kids look up to us. “
Garcia was unmoved.
“You finally got someone people real up here, hoping their hand up saying I drink, I smoke, Now what?”
There is sure to be plenty more of this as the fight continues to build.
