Ryan Garcia spoke out regarding the increasing inability of boxing promoters to come together to put major fights on – and it’s clear he, like many fans, is becoming frustrated.
With Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua and Errol Spence Jr vs Terence Crawford both falling through after weeks of negotiations, it now looks like Garcia’s proposed mega fight with Gervonta Davis could also be in serious jeopardy. The undefeated fighter took to social media to air his grievances this week.
“I want to fight Tank and Tank wants to fight me. This fight is what boxing NEEDS right now! I accepted all the terms on my side and instructed my team to get it done exactly as offered.”
“The fans deserve this fight…our sport needs this fight so we’ve got to get this BS figured out. This should have been the best couple of months in boxing. Spence / Crawford fell apart, me and Tank running into issues…that’s not what boxing is supposed to be about.”

Talks for a clash between the two young American stars appeared to be progressing well, however there appears to be a disagreement over the broadcast rights, with Garcia signed to fight on DAZN and ‘Tank’ regarded as one of Showtime’s major attractions.
And ‘King Ry’ stated that he believes if such issues continue to prevent major fights, then the shift towards celebrity and influencer boxing will only increase.
“Respectfully, celebrity boxing should not be defining our sport.”
“Everyone talks about player empowerment in the NBA and other sports leagues…it’s time to have a REAL conversation about player empowerment in pro boxing.”
“I want this fight for my career and, real talk, my mental health. The guys in charge CAN make this happen. Don’t let this break down.”
“I’m asking on behalf of everyone who loves the most beautiful sport in the world.”
Garcia is a polarising figure in the eyes of many boxing fans, however his impassioned cry for change will echo the views of the majority of the pugilistic public.
