Sam Jones has weighed in with a prediction for this weekend’s big fight between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury.
The clash at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia is just days away and is regarded as make or break for both men.
And whilst Jones explained to Boxing Social he feels there is more pressure on Fury, he still believes he will dispatch of the brash YouTuber.
“There’s an argument to say Jake Paul’s beaten better opposition than Tommy Fury, up to now.”
“But I genuinely think you’re going to see a good version of Tommy Fury in this fight. Because one; his family will disown him, two; he’ll never be able to box again and three; it’s going to be hard for him to even sit ringside at a boxing event again.”
“It’s embarrassing for him if he loses.”
“I genuinely believe Tommy Fury takes Jake Paul out.”
This Sunday is actually the third time Paul and Fury have been scheduled to fight, with Fury pulling out on both occasions before – the first due to injury and then after being refused entry into the United States.
Many in the boxing world share Jones’ belief that the pressure going into the fight lays firmly on the shoulders of Fury, with even his father John and brother Tyson publicly imploring him to “stay in Saudi Arabia” should he fail to dispatch of ‘The Problem Child.’
Fury has fought mainly journeyman thus far, whilst Paul’s opponents have, for the most part, been mainly former MMA fighters.
That said, this weekend’s blockbuster clash is widely expected to be the toughest task of either man’s career.
The two agreed an ‘all or nothing’ money bet at the fiery press conference, adding even more intrigue to the matchup.
The fight has landed on pay per view on BT Sport Box Office in the UK, with the price set at £19.95. US fans can watch via ESPN+ for $49.99.
