Sandy Ryan calls Mikaela Mayer a “piece of trash”

The boxers Sandy Ryan and Mikaela Mayer have engaged in a social media clash that has captured the attention of their followers. This tense exchange of statements followed Ryan’s defeat to Mayer and quickly escalated into an aggressive back-and-forth between the two fighters.

The conflict started after recent comments made by Mikaela Mayer in an interview with FightPost. Mayer spoke about her fight with Ryan, saying: “I hurt her at the end of that fight. I was cracking her that hard, and my hands have never ached so much after a fight.” These words ignited the controversy and quickly drew a response from the British boxer.

Sandy Ryan took to her official X account to respond to Mayer, clearly stating her stance on the comments:

“One thing very incorrect is you did not hurt me at any moment in that fight mikeala don’t talk stupid just enjoy the win but don’t talk shit like you have been doing🙄,” Ryan wrote.

Mayer’s response was swift, adding more tension to the exchange. The American replied:

“I’m glad to hear that Sandy! But throwing up after a fight is never a good sign. Again, glad you’re okay and thanks for reading 💚.” These words only intensified the disagreement between the two fighters.

Ryan didn’t hold back and fired back at Mayer, raising the tone of her response:

“That doesn’t mean you hurt me in the fight you clown at no time in the fight there was signs of me hurt so enjoy the win but don’t talk shit. You piece of trash,” Ryan sharply replied.

Far from ending the conflict, Mayer kept the exchange going, responding: “That would mean u we’re concussed Sandy. I’m sure they explained this to you at the hospital.” These statements prompted an even harsher response from Ryan: “That’s cool I don’t really care what happened after the fight tbh. What happened before the fight explain that bitch.”

Finally, Mayer decided to conclude the discussion in a more diplomatic manner:

“I made my statement about the pre-fight incident already. I understand it’s easier for you to blame me, but that doesn’t make it true. Hopefully the investigation gets you some answers.”

This tense exchange on social media reflects a rivalry that has been building between the two fighters since before their bout. Sandy Ryan has repeatedly accused Mikaela Mayer and her team of having negatively impacted her before the fight, referring to an incident that occurred as she was heading to the arena.

Sandy Ryan claimed she was attacked with a can of red paint in what she describes as an “apparent coordinated attack” on her way to the fight against Mayer on September 27. ESPN, the network broadcasting the event, reported that the paint left a crimson trail on Ryan’s hip and left leg. Although the attack did not cause physical harm, the British boxer was visibly upset.

Mikaela Mayer also addressed this incident in the same interview with FightPost, stating:

“I don’t know who threw the paint, but it doesn’t make me happy because it could have jeopardized everything I had been working for. Sandy could very easily have pulled out of the fight,” Mayer affirmed.

Ryan, 31, was attacked outside her hotel in New York as she headed to the fight at the Madison Square Garden Theater. Although the incident did not affect her performance in the ring, she lost to Mayer, 34, by majority decision after ten rounds.

The social media feud adds fuel to the fire in the rivalry between these two prominent boxers. Currently, Mikaela Mayer is free of contractual obligations and could schedule a rematch against Sandy Ryan or Natasha Jonas. However, she has shown great interest in a unification fight against Chantelle Cameron.
