Shakur Stevenson was recently crowned as both a three-weight world champion and the new WBC Lightweight king after he outpointed Edwin De Los Santos in Las Vegas. Now, the slick southpaw has called out a fellow world champion for his next contest.
Devin Haney made the decision to vacate his undisputed title and move up to the super-lightweight scene last year, fragmenting the four belts and beginning a new era for the 135 division.
Stevenson was first to capitalise on the opportunity, fighting for and winning the WBC strap even before Haney had made his 140lb debut.
As for the other sanctioning bodies, the IBF Champion will be decided in around three months’ time when Vasily Lomachenko is expected to travel to Australia to challenge George Kambosos, whilst the WBA have upgraded Gervonta Davis from Regular champion to sole champion.
The WBO has been the quietest of the bodies since Haney’s move, but on social media, Stevenson called out the WBO Super-Featherweight holder and fellow three-division champion, Emmanuel Navarrete for a fight that could potentially be for the vacant WBO Lightweight belt.
“I like fighting the fighters that’s young and undefeated accomplishing things in the sport like myself.. Somebody tag [Emmanuel] Navarrate cause I don’t know his @. Let’s make a big fight USA vs Mexico. I’m not into taking the easy route let’s get the WBC and WBO involved champion.”

Each of ‘Vaquero’s’ thirteen title bouts have been for a WBO belt, and the Mexican has fought for a vacant belt of the sanctioning body on each occasion that he has moved up in weight since being crowned super-bantamweight champion in 2018.
He currently boasts a record of 38-1-1, having not lost since 2012 but drawing his most recent outing against Robson Conceicao.
