Shakur Stevenson Next Targeted Fight Date And Location Revealed

After a slow start to the year, Shaker Stevenson looks like he might finally be edging towards announcing a fight with a targeted date and location now revealed.

Stevenson has been in the headlines plenty in 2024 but not yet because of what he has done in the ring. It was not long ago that the world champion decided to retire, which many people put down to his frustrations at not being able to land the big fights he wanted.

He then swiftly reversed that decision and announced he couldn’t stay away from the sport he loved. Since then he has been linked with a number of opponents and laid down the gauntlet to young challengers who want a crack at him.

He has also offered to step in to fight Devin Haney as the replacement for Ryan Garcia should Garcia’s apparent mental instabilities rule him out of that contest in April.

But now, as revealed by Dan Rafael in his newsletter and shared in a post on X, Stevenson has a new focus.

“Shakur Stevenson’s next fight is reportedly being planned for July 6th at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, opponent TBC. [According to @DanRafael1]”

Stevenson is the WBC lightweight champion and was last out in November against Edwin De Los Santos in what many considered to be a less than entertainment defence that saw him run out a points winner. Who the new opponent might be has not yet been revealed.
