BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom believes Liam Smith is the perfect foe for Chris Eubank Jr’s next fight.
Speculation on who the WBA number one middleweight contender will face has gone quiet since mooted opponent Kell Brook retired from the sport, leaving boxing on a high after his win over Amir Khan.
Last time out on Sky Sports Eubank beat Liam Williams with a lopsided points win in Cardiff that saw the Welshman visit the canvas four times. Smith has racked up two high profile wins on the bounce against Anthony Fowler and Jesse Vargas.
Shalom told Sky Sports:
“For me the perfect fight is Liam Smith. I think that’s the fight the fans are calling for. I think that’s a fight fans are potentially seeing as a 50-50,”
“Liam Smith’s almost peaking now. He’s had two great wins [against Anthony Fowler and then Jesse Vargas]. He looks like he’s in really, really good form, he’s willing to come up and fight Chris at middleweight. So that seems like a great fight.”
Eubank is currently promoted by Wasserman Boxing but fights on Sky Sports who are the broadcast partner of BOXXER.
