Tyson Fury’s brother, Shane, has claimed that two of his domestic rivals – Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte – are washed up.
Fury beat Dillian Whyte by sixth round knockout at Wembley back in April in a performance that showed levels between the two fighters. Whyte has recently returned to the ring with a somewhat sluggish points victory over previously undefeated Jermaine Franklin.
‘The Gypsy King’ is yet to face Joshua, with many fans believing it will never happen following awkward and doomed-to-fail negotiations taking place on two separate occasions this year.
‘AJ’s most recent outing was his second loss to now-champion, Oleksandr Usyk. The Watford man is looking to get back to winning ways in early 2023.
Shane, who is a key part of Tyson’s training team and the loudest voice from ringside on fight night, told Pro Boxing Fans that the two British fighters had seen their best days, but picks a clear winner should the pair face off in the ring again.
“My opinion – I think both men [are] washed up, but I think Joshua’s licking his lips looking at Whyte’s last performance cause it was shockingly sh**e. That’s coming from someone who’s just no good anyway. It’s not disrespect to anyone saying they’re washed up and it was a s**t performance, because I can’t do better, it’s what it is.”
“What I’m saying is, from were they [were], I just think both men seen their better days – more mentally than anything else with Joshua … If I was Joshua looking at [Whyte’s performance] ringside, I’d be wanting him next because I think Joshua walks straight through him.”
Whilst Fury moves towards an undisputed fight with Usyk, Joshua and Whyte are left out of the title picture for the time being and free to set up a fight between themselves.
They first faced off in 2015 with Joshua coming away with a knockout win, and the rematch is high on the list of potential comeback fights for the former champion. With that said, there are still other names in the running.
