Three-division world champion Shane Mosley has made his choice for the greatest pound-for-pound fighter on the planet following some phenomenal performances in 2023.
This year, boxing fans have been treat to a host of blockbuster events, with cards such as Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney-Vasily Lomachenko, Stephen Fulton-Naoya Inoue and Errol Spence Jr-Terence Crawford.
As a result, new names have made their way up the list of best in the sport, with others – including the formerly favoured choice of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez – still yet to prove that they are at the very top table.
The Ring Magazine’s 2000 & 2001 pound-for-pound leader, Shane Mosley, has now given his verdict to K.O. Artist Sports.
He believes it’s tight at the top between two men, but is favouring the now-undisputed welterweight champion, Terence Crawford, due to his dominating win against Errol Spence Jr back in July.
“Crawford did a hell of a job [on Spence], he did what he was supposed to do. He showed up at the right weight, worked out hard, did everything that he is supposed to do and he is a world champion, he’s undisputed and he is pound-for-pound the best.”
“I’d say that Tank [Gervonta Davis] is right there with him, they’re going back and forth, but for me I see Crawford as the pound-for-pound best because he has all the tools. Tank does too, but Crawford can box you, he can punch you, he can fight you on the inside or the outside and knock you out.”
Crawford is slated to rematch Spence, with a timeline yet to be revealed. Should he win for the second time, he has his eyes set on the higher weight classes and more titles.
