Former WBO Heavyweight Champion Shannon Briggs has predicted the reported December 23 undercard clash between Daniel Dubois and Jarrell Miller.
The fight is expected to be one of many heavyweight encounters on the Saudi Arabia bill that will also feature Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.
Dubois will be looking to bounce back from a second career defeat after losing to Oleksandr Usyk back in August. Despite taking a knee and accepting a knockout loss, the 26-year-old dropped the WBA, WBO & IBF champion in the fifth round with a shot that floored Usyk, but the referee immediately ruled it as a low blow.
Now, Dubois is taking part in another controversial clash, only this time it is apparent before the opening bell.
The Brit is slated to take on Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller, who is seeking to re-emerge as a title contender after being banned in 2019 following a failed drugs test in the build-up to his showdown with Anthony Joshua, where he was replaced by Andy Ruiz Jr – and the rest is history.
Since making his comeback, Miller has defeated Ariel Bracamonte, Derek Cardenas and notably knocked out former WBA champion, Lucas Browne.
Miller will be expected to hit the scales much heavier than his opponent, weighing in between 328lbs-341lbs for each of his three outings since returning to the ring. Meanwhile the hard-hitting Dubois has been between 230lbs-242lbs for his last five fights, which could lead to Miller being around 100lbs heavier than the Brit on fight night.
In an interview with ES News, Briggs – himself a world champion and renowned puncher – said his fellow American will ‘wear Dubois down’.
“I’m going with Big Baby all the way, he is going to wear him down.”
The full card is expected to be announced imminently, with the top of the bill being Joshua vs Otto Wallin and Wilder vs Joseph Parker, accompanied by Dmitry Bivol, Jai Opetaia and Filip Hrgovic.
