Simon Jordan has doubled down on recent criticism of DAZN, saying that he believes there should be a higher quality of content on the platform.
Radio host, Jordan, has praised Eddie Hearn as a promoter, but reaffirmed his comments that the current level of shows on the streaming service was not good enough.
In a recent interview with ID Boxing, Jordan said:
“I just don’t think there’s enough content on there and I don’t think the content on there is of a good enough quality.”
“I think they can be better, and they will be better. Eddie Hearn is an elite promoter, but I think sometimes he can do better.”
“The more boxing platforms there are, the more that boxing gets visibility and raises it’s profile, the better it is for the sport.”
“I’m looking at it with open eyes, saying why isn’t there better content? It’s easy to criticise, I’m not going to give them what I think the blueprint should be for making it better – but I do think it should be better.”
DAZN have come under criticism for the recent influx of “crossover boxing” to the platform, with many fans concerned this will be detrimental to the standard of traditional boxing shows they broadcast.
The recent announcement that there would be a tag team fight on a DAZN x Misfits Boxing card in Telford came under particular fire from observers on social media.
Jordan himself has confirmed that he will be entering the ‘boxing business’ in one form or another, so we could see him competing with Hearn for business rather than headlines in the near future.
