Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr will rematch on September 2 in Manchester, with fan-favourite heavyweight, Dave Allen, returning to the big stage to test 7-0 Frazer Clarke.
The second instalment of the Smith and Eubank short but intense rivalry was set in stone recently after Eubank activated his rematch clause following the first knockout loss of his career.
The fourth round stoppage is something Eubank wants to answer and avenge, with the stakes, according to Smith, being huge.
BOXXER have announced the first undercard fights for the Sky Sports pay-per-view event, and Clarke-Allen finds itself high up the bill.
Allen (25-5-2, 18 KOs) retired from the sport in November 2020 at the age of 28, citing the fact that he ‘didn’t want to get punched anymore.’ That was short-lived, with a low-key return of four rounders in August of 2021.
He’s made no secret of wanting a big domestic fight, and it has been delivered in the form of Olympic Bronze Medalist, Clarke. He has five early finishes and has been looking for a step up in opponent for both profile and skill.
He dealt with veteran Mariusz Wach last time out over ten rounds after a fight with British Heavyweight Champion, Fabio Wardley, didn’t reach the purse bids stage as promoter Ben Shalom pulled Clarke from the process.
Elsewhere on the card, Albanian welterweight, Florian Marku, returns to the ring for the first time this year against Irish southpaw, Dylan Moran.
Mark Heffron will put his British Super Middleweight title on the line against Jack Cullen, and 4-0 Ben Whittaker returns with an opponent as yet unannounced.
