Just over twelve months on from his life-threatening car crash, unified welterweight champion is on the verge of a return to the ring after miraculously escaping the incident with no career-derailing injuries.
‘The Truth’ faces Danny Garcia on December 5 in Arlington after making a remarkable recovery. Spence, who last fought in September 2019, incised that he did not want an easy touch upon his return to the ring.
“I didn’t want to ease back into things,” Spence told TMZ. “I feel like I’m the top guy in the division. I’m the top dog. I wanted probably the next best thing which is Danny Garcia.”
Should he come out victorious against Garcia, Spence has sensationally named pound-for-pound star Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez as a potential future ring foe.
The 30-year-old said he would be open to moving to middleweight to meet Canelo, with the Cowboys Stadium his venue of choice.
“It’d be an awesome fight at 160 pounds. Especially if we have it at the Cowboys stadium!”
