# Former Spence Opponent Believes Weight Will Be Pivotal In Crawford Rematch

Former WBA world champion and opponent of Errol Spence Jr, Yordenis Ugas, has declared that a rematch between Spence and Terence Crawford would be a more even fight if it were to take place at super-welterweight.

Ugas lost his welterweight world title to Spence last year, a stoppage in the tenth round of their unified title clash and a fractured orbital bone for his trouble.

Spence was next out in the long-awaited undisputed welterweight title bout against his rival, Terence Crawford, this July, and was dominated for the entirety of the contest before being stopped in the ninth-round.

Now, [Spence has activated his rematch clause](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/spence-activates-crawford-rematch/) in an attempt to even the score against the much-lauded ‘Bud.’ He has been open about wanting the second showdown to take place one division up at super-welterweight.

[In an interview with Fight Hype](https://youtube.com/shorts/madlHxREO18?si=PtQ3l7yGwXs8sbyL), Ugas looked forward to the second instalment of the rivalry, believing that a move up to 154lbs would be highly beneficial for Spence, whom many feel was tight at the 147lb weight limit.

> “Great performance by Crawford. Now, he is number one pound-for-pound in the sport. I would like \[to see\] a rematch. Rematch at 154, I think that can be a great fight at 154, it will help Spence a lot.”

Ugas is set to return to the ring this month, fighting on the undercard of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s upcoming undisputed super-middleweight title defence against Jermell Charlo on September 30 in Las Vegas.
