Srisaket Sor Rungvisai will be waiting for the winner of tonight’s Juan Francisco Estrada vs Roman Gonzalez showdown after brushing aside former world strawweight champion Kwanthai Sithmorseng in three, totally one-sided rounds at the Workpoint Arena in Pathum Thani, Thailand, on Saturday.
Ex-WBC super-flyweight king Srisaket thoroughly dominated the faded former WBA champion from start to finish, battering Kwanthai to the body and eventually dropping his countryman with an avalanche of blows in a corner in the third.
The outgunned Kwanthai (50-8-1, 27 KOs) was thankfully withdrawn on his stool after absorbing ceaseless punishment in the third stanza. Having been stopped four times in his previous seven contests, Kwanthai’s rapid dismissal was of little surprise.
WBC No.1 contender Srisaket will now face the Estrada-Gonzalez winner in a trilogy fight, having split decisions with the Mexican and scored two previous wins over ‘Chocolatito’.
“I hope Estrada wins because we have unfinished business,” said southpaw Srisaket afterwards.
In other significant action, highly-rated super-bantam Chainoi ‘Rock Man’ Worawut (14-0-1, 12 KOs) trumped former WBO bantamweight king Pungluang Sor Singyu (54-9, 36 KOs) on the cards. Scores were 98-92 (twice) and 97-93.
