Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard is confident Errol Spence (21-0, 18 KO’s) can cause serious problems to Kell Brook (36-1, 26 KO’s) this upcoming weekend. Brook will defend his IBF world welterweight title for the fourth time but the undefeated American might be his toughest test to date in the division.
“Errol Spence Junior is the real deal from what I’ve seen, I’ve watched him from day one. That’s why I think the world is particularly excited about this fight with Kell Brook and Spence,” said Leonard in an interview with Sky Sports.
Brook hasn’t fought since going up two divisions to face Gennady Golovkin last September. The one sided beating resulted in ‘Special K’s’ first ever professional defeat in the ring. His stock took a dive but Brook is looking to bounce back with a win over the much hyped Spence.
“Spence’s assets are speed, poise, balance. He has the whole package and every time he gets into the ring he improves. The winner is the person who carries out their gameplan and doesn’t get too cute,” continued Leonard.
The anticipated title fight will take place at Bramall Lane in Sheffield, which is Brook’s home turf. Spence is stepping deep into enemy territory and Brook’s supporters will most definitely try to distract the American. Who will crack under pressure? We will find out on May 27th.
