Light heavyweight legend Antonio Tarver has offered an interesting take on the upcoming undisputed showdown between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, set to take place on June 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The fight will see the two undefeated world champions battle it out for supremacy in Tarver’s old division, with the Matchroom vs Queensbury five vs five featuring on the undercard.
Since turning professional, Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs) has steamrolled opponents throughout his destructive ten-year career, dismantling established world champions in the process.
Most recently he stopped Callum Smith in January, while he also holds wins over Joe Smith Jr, Oleksandr Gvodzdyk and Anthony Yarde in his career.
Bivol (22-0, 11 KOs) meanwhile knows exactly how to put on a decisive performance, which Mexican superstar Canelo Alverez discovered when he jumped up to 175 lbs in 2022.
Canelo came up short in the bout, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Bivol, in what was only the Mexican’s second professional defeat in 64 professional contests.
The clash between Beterbiev and Bivol has split many opinions, with fans struggling to pick a winner, but Tarver has had his say whilst speaking to One On One Boxing.
“These guys have been knocking guys out, looking dominant; man, you know I can’t wait to see that showdown. Beterbiev by knockout, or Bivol by decision.”
Fans won’t have too long to wait to find out who comes out on top in the undisputed showdown, with official confirmation of the bout expected shortly.
