WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez has fired shots at his promoter Bob Arum over the latest offer he has received to fight with his Top Rank outfit.
Lopez has had great success fighting under the auspices of Arum’s legendary banner, not least his historic win over Vasyl Lomachenko back in November 2021.
Soon after that win arguments ensued about contracts and financials, and when it was announced that Lopez would defend against George Kambosos Jr, no agreement was made.
The fight went to purse bids and Triller initially won it before the fight had eight changes of date, six different venues and several lawsuits before it was eventually shown on DAZN when that original deal fell through.
Lopez went on to lose his belts against Kambosos Jr but has since rebuilt and is now a world champion once more. However, the disputes over money go on while Lopez continues to wait around for his next big fight.
The American has now expressed his frustration at apparently getting so many ultimatums from Arum in a new message posted on X.
“How many “take it or leave it” do I have to go through? What a joke @trboxing @BobArum”
After his last showing against Jamaine Ortiz was criticised for being a rather below-par performance, Lopez is now looking to show the same skills he did before becoming a world title holder and has even spoken about the possibility of fighting two-weight undisputed champion Terrence Crawford.
