Fresh off becoming a two weight world champion, Teofimo Lopez has taken a pop at the man who could very well end up being his next fight.
Reports suggest that undisputed lightweight king Devin Haney may decide to move up in weight to super lightweight, where Lopez now holds the WBO strap following his win over his excellent win over Josh Taylor.
And when asked by FightHub to rank the difficulty of fights with Haney, Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis, Lopez wasn’t particularly flattering towards ‘The Dream.’
“Technically wise, it would be Shakur. Power, and some speed, it would be ‘Tank.’ And Devin Haney is the last of the bunch.”
“I think Shakur knows it and ‘Tank’ knows it too. That’s lunch food.”
The WBO give undisputed champions who move up in weight mandatory status for their belts, meaning a mouthwatering clash between Lopez and Haney in the next six to twelve months is a real possibility.
After a series of flat sub par performances stemming dating back to his loss to George Kambosos Jr, as well as issues in his personal life, there were big doubts as to whether or not Lopez would ever return to the form that saw him topple Vasiliy Lomachenko back in 2020.
However, he managed to set his ongoing outside of the ring issues to one side and produce one of the best showings of his career to topple Taylor at the Madison Square Garden Theatre and catapult himself towards even bigger nights and even more titles.
