Teofimo Lopez And Sandor Martin Argue Over Decision: “You Ran The Whole Fight!”

Former unified lightweight champion, Teofimo Lopez, was unimpressed with his opponent, Sandor Martin, as he edged out a controversial split decision victory over the Spaniard.

Lopez did enough to win two scorecards 97-92 and 96-93, whilst losing by a round on the other, but many fans believe that the judging was very generous for the 25-year-old.

A key talking point was a knockdown that was not scored for Martin, in the seventh round of the fight, which looked to have been an incorrect decision from the officials.

After the fight, Lopez and Martin got into a heated argument, with Martin claiming to have been robbed. However, Lopez maintained that he won the fight by being the aggressor and claiming that Martin was running away for the whole fight.

“You was running every time, you was running the whole time, that is not how you entertain bro.

You was running the whole time, every time you committed, I countered and I hit you. Every time you committed, I countered, and I hit you, that is why you was running. This was a boring a** fight, I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it, you guys [Top Rank] need to give me a better dance partner, he was running.”

After a less than convincing performance, doubts will now be raised whether Lopez has the size to compete for belts in the super-lightweight division.
