As the weeks go by and the legacy defining clash between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford draws ever nearer, tensions appear to be starting to run high.
Crawford and Spence’s trainer Derrick James crossed paths following a press conference for the undisputed welterweight world title fight last week, and things quickly became heated.
James appeared to take exception to Crawford asking him “what’s up?” and stepped towards the WBO champ, who then called him a “stupid motherf*****.”
Thankfully, there were plenty of security on hand to get between the pair and prevent any sort of physical altercation, which would have no doubt led to a hefty fine for both.
Spence and Crawford will lock horns at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for all the marbles at 147lbs on July 29th, in what is one of the most highly anticipated match ups in recent years.
With both men having now entered their mid thirties, fans were starting to lose hope that the historic fight would ever take place, especially given the promotional obstacles that have always seemed to divide the two Americans.
However, those issues have all been overcome and it’s all systems go for just over a month’s time.
The boxing world is split down the middle as to who will emerge with the four world titles, however the bookmakers have three weight world champion Crawford a marginal favourite at the time of writing.
The winner on the 29th, whoever it may be, will have a huge case for being pound for pound number one in the entire sport.
