An undisputed welterweight world title fight between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford has been one of, if not the most demanded fight in the sport of boxing over the past few years.
With both Spence and Crawford having entered their mid thirties, fans across the world were losing hope that the historic fight would ever take place, especially given the promotional barriers that have always seemed to divide the two.
However, a deal was finally agreed and the two American’s will lock horns on July 29th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
That said, one half of that match up has named the fights he would like to see come to fruition sooner rather than later.
When asked by Showtime Sports about which fighters he hopes to see face off in the near future, WBO champion Crawford couldn’t name just one fight, but rolled off two – and both include undefeated star Shakur Stevenson
“I would like to see Shakur vs Devin, or Shakur vs ‘Tank.’ Those are the big fights I would like to see next.”
The lightweight division is arguably the hottest in the sport right now and, even though Haney currently holds all four world titles, huge questions remain over who truly is the best fighter at 135lbs.
Many feel it is only a matter of time before Stevenson adds a strap at the weight to those he collected at featherweight and super featherweight, with the Newark southpaw looking extremely impressive against Shuichiro Yoshino earlier this year.
Davis is arguably the division’s biggest draw following his win over Ryan Garcia in April, however is currently serving a jail sentence after violating a house arrest order.
Also riding high is undisputed champion Haney after scraping by Vasiliy Lomachenko last month, though there are doubts over how long he will stay at lightweight.
