A few weeks on from his history making win over Errol Spence Jr at the T-Mobile Arena, Terence Crawford is clearly enjoying getting the recognition he believes he has always deserved.
And though Crawford may be contractually tied in to a rematch with Spence should the Texan decide to trigger a contractual clause, he has made it clear a second meeting will be on his terms.
However, on a recent appearance on Sway’s Universe, the newly crowned undisputed welterweight world champion said he would have no problem with a rematch against Spence taking place up at light middleweight.
“Yes, it’s definitely my call. The ball is in my court, what is it they say? I’m the A-side now.”
“Of course [I’d consider moving up in weight.] 154lbs is already in my near future, and we can do it at 54 as well.”
Spence has long been regarded as tight at 147lbs, and said at the post fight press conference he would prefer a rematch take place one weight class up.
Should Crawford vs Spence 2 happen, Spence will need to hope the extra 7lbs makes a world of difference, as he was on the end of a one sided beating at the hands of Crawford in Las Vegas.
So brutal was the damage ‘The Truth’ incurred that night, that there have even been calls for him to retire from boxing for the good of his long term health.
For now, however, that seems out of the question, and it looks like fight fans should prepare themselves for Crawford vs Spence 2 towards the back end of this year.
