Pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford had some strong words for Jermell Charlo after the Texan’s performance against Brian Castaño on Saturday night.
Charlo and Castaño fought out a compelling 12-round split draw for the undisputed super-welterweight championship in San Antonio. The result surprised many onlookers who fought the Argentine had done enough to win.
Crawford, who has hinted at moving to 154lbs himself, criticised Charlo for his display and added that ‘Iron Man’ won’t be joining the top 10 pound-for-pound rankings any time soon.
“I been gone for a min but @TwinCharlo last night (Saturday) is the reason you not on the P4P list sir. Gotta do better.”
The equally vocal Claressa Shields came out in defence of Charlo and replied to Crawford by saying, “Some dudes on that P4P list don’t deserve to be there. But Charlo def deserves to be on there. No lie & Castaño wasn’t a bum.”
Crawford has never been shy of a word or two and maybe this is the beginnings of making some noise in the highly competitive 154lbs weight class.
