In the eyes of many, Terence Crawford cemented his place as the greatest fighter of his generation with a stunning win over Errol Spence Jr to capture the undisputed welterweight world championship back in July.
Tim Bradley, who has always been an admirer of Crawford, this week bestowed upon perhaps the highest praise possible.
In an interview with FightHype, former world champion Bradley admitted he had “never seen anything like” the Omaha man in his time watching boxing.
“I believe in my man Crawford, I think he’s different. I think we’ve never seen anything him like him in the sport, as long as I have lived – I can say that. Crawford is a winner. He’s physically strong, he’s not normal the dude is an alien.”
With Crawford now a three weight world champion and two weight undisputed champion, it would take a brave man to disagree with Bradley’s sentiment.
Though many fans and pundits hoped to see ‘Bud’ move on to pastures new and more legacy enhancing challenges, his next outing will almost certainly be a rematch against Spence.
The Texan has officially triggered a contractual clause for another shot at the now undisputed welterweight king, and the pair are expected to meet in the early stages of 2024.
However, the two camps are said to be at a disagreement over the weight class a potential rematch will take place at, with Spence and his team keen to run it back up at super welterweight.
Crawford is now very much the A-side and holds all the leverage in negotiations, though, and will be able to dictate the terms for a second meeting between the two Americans.
