Shock Heavyweight Title Fight Reported For Matchroom vs. Queensberry 5 On 5 Event

Following the announcement of the weights for the Matchroom vs. Queensberry 5 On 5 event in Saudi Arabia this summer, there are now rumours a shock heavyweight title fight could be one of the contests.

The headline fight on the card is already confirmed and will see a much anticipated light heavyweight unification fight between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev, who is the only champion in boxing to have kept up a 100% knockout ratio.

Yesterday the weights were revealed after Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn and Queensberry’s Frank Warren Made their picks, selecting middleweight, featherweight, light heavyweight and two fights in the heavyweight division.

Now, per a message posted on X by boxing journalist Dan Rafael, some of the fighters might well be close to be announced too.

“Per sources: IF 5 on 5 bouts being worked on are finalized (they’re not yet) this what June 1 Beterbiev-Bivol card looks like: Wilder-Zhang, Hrgovic-Dubois (vacant IBF heavy), Ray Ford-Nick Ball (WBA 126), Ammo Williams-Hamzah Sheeraz (160), Craig Richards-Willy Hutchinson (175).”

Despite this prediction, yesterday Matchroom fighter Ray Ford announced he will not be on the card as he is not out until July.

What it does mean is that a new heavyweight world champion could be crowned as Brit Daniel Dubois, fresh off the back of a big win over Jarrell Miller back in December, gets a second chance to become a belt holder.

He fell short in his first attempt against Oleksandr Usyk last August. His opponent could be Fillip Hrgovic, the big Croatian who got a straightforward win over Mark De Mori in his last contest.
