The rematch between Tony Bellew and David Haye will commence on May 5 at the O2 in London but the Liverpudlian still has worries of Haye not making into the ring.
In an interview with Radio City Talk, Bellew discussed at length about Haye’s situation.
“Of course there are concerns. Of his last eight fights, he’s pulled out of four. It does worry me. But saying that I know he has no way to go. I know he will do everything possible to get in the ring on the fifth of May. I’ve given him ample time to get over the injuries. We’ve seen him doing his lovely bicep curls on his videos, we’ve seen his punching, press ups and shadow boxing, we’ve seen all of this so hopefully he is all right,” said Bellew.
Haye has had an extensive amount of serious injuries which lead to him pulling out from numerous fights. Bellew says this is Haye’s last shot.

“He knows, pull out again – it’s over. I will not entertain you ever again. I just a sad situation. He’s a man who has torn five major muscle groups in his body. Tearing one is unlucky, tearing two is catastrophic and extremely unlucky. Tearing five, you’ve got to start asking questions what’s going on. He’s done a lot of damage to his body,” told Bellew.
Bellew also shared his take on Haye’s intentions about fighting Anthony Joshua.
“David is chasing money 100 per cent. He wants to fight Joshua and by saying that he knows he can’t beat him. The size difference is just too much. Anthony Joshua is 6 foot 7 and the guy has got the speed of a middleweight.
“He is not like Wladimir Klitschko who will use range and the sweet science. Anthony Joshua like a wrecking machine. He steps in, throws punches at you and has no care in the world about what’s coming back because he’s so fast and so powerful,” explained ‘The Bomber.’
Bellew has stated many times before publically that he will not put himself in harm’s way and face Joshua nor Deontay Wilder.
Bellew was in talks with Joseph Parker and offered to fight Tyson Fury as well but he wants to stay away from the hard punching knockout artists of the heavyweight division.
“I was happy to face Joseph Parker, I’m happy to face Tyson Fury but I’m not going to face Deontay Wilder or Anthony Joshua for the simple reason of they have reach over me, they have power over me and they are really good athletes,” he said.
According to reports, talks regarding Bellew-Fury have died down, but should the two ever meet in the future, Bellew is confident he would win against ‘The Gypsy King.’

“Joseph Parker is the same size as me and Tyson Fury is so slow. He’s been out of the ring for a long time. He’s not a puncher also. I believe I would beat Tyson Fury. I really do. You cannot take as of a period out the game as he’s took and expect to come back and be a world class fighter,” commented Bellew.
