Former WBC cruiserweight champion, Tony Bellew has had his say ahead of the upcoming all-American catchweight clash between two of the sport’s biggest superstars, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Ryan Garcia.
In a time where big fights rarely get made, the bout between Davis and Garcia has been a breath of fresh air, as both men have shown an old-school approach to put it all on the line.
Whilst some experts argue that Davis’s power and the weight issues of ‘King Ryan’ lean them towards ‘Tank’, others feel that the speed and size of Garcia could overwhelm Davis.
Although boxing fans are undecided, the pair are both confident and have even bet their purses on the outcome.
In his column for DAZN, Bellew shared his excitement ahead of the fight and made a precise prediction, anticipating a late stoppage for Gervonta Davis.
“Both are excellent fighters and if they do what they do well then, I think it’s going to come down to who has the most on the night.”
“For me, that man is Davis and that’s just because he has so much power and I think he’ll land a huge shot some point late in the fight. Garcia will start quick, and I expect him to be in front when the fight gets into the later rounds, but Davis will be patient and when he does find the target of Garcia, I think that’ll be enough to end a memorable encounter. I can’t wait.”
Davis and Garcia will take to the ring on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as they hope to set an example to their fellow fighters that this is how matchmaking should be done.
The best fighting the best. The event will be available to stream on DAZN for fans outside of the United States, with Showtime and DAZN both offering the card on pay-per-view for the American audience.
