Tony Bellew hasn’t been shy in giving his opinion on the sport of boxing – whether that’s from inside the ropes or in the pundit’s chair.
The Liverpool-man built a reputation in his world title winning campaign as a no nonsense fighter and talker, and has continued to make headlines as an analyst for DAZN.
Speaking on the broadcast of the mega ‘Day of Reckoning’ card set for Saudi Arabia on December 23, Bellew discussed Jarrell Miller’s return to big time boxing against Daniel Dubois, and hopes the young Brit can retire him.
“He’s a big fat baby. Wait till you see Jarrell’s lips start moving. He is going to end [Dubois] verbally. Daniel Dubois could not keep up with Jarrell Miller verbally, but I hope Daniel Dubois shuts him down because we need Jarrell Miller away from the sport.
Someone had to say it. This guy had more drugs in him that The Incredible Hulk.”
Miller squandered an opportunity to be Anthony Joshua’s first opponent stateside back in 2019, testing positive for various doping substances before being dropped from the card and banned from competition.
Since his return in 2022, he has decisioned Ariel Bracamonte, knocked out Derek Cardenas and Lucas Browne, and now finds himself on a mega-card in Saudi Arabia against young Dubois.
He’s convinced he wins easily, telling Boxing Social that a stoppage is guaranteed. Should that be the case, ‘Big Baby’ has already planted the seed to goad Joshua into rescheduling their ill-fated bout.
The two-time world heavyweight champion fights on the same card, facing Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin at the top of the bill.
