With a host of big names linked to a fight against Conor Benn this year his trainer Tony Sims favours one against Kell Brook.
Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn said this week that the 25-year-old would be put in the ‘deep end’ for his next fight should he get past Chris van Heerden on Saturday night. Mikey Garcia, Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman, Adrien Broner and Kell Brook were the names put forward by Hearn and it’s the all- British showdown with the former IBF champion that Sims would pick.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Sims said: “I’d like to do the Brook fight in late autumn if that fight’s about. I think that’s a great fight for him.
“That would be the one that would be a good fight I think and a good selling fight.
“Boxing moves really quick, and it changes rapidly as well. So, we’ll just see what happens and take it one step at a time. But hopefully in the autumn he’ll be in a big fight against a good fighter, and I think he’ll be ready to go then.”
