Former unified World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has launched an astonishing attack on WBA/WBO/IBF belt-holder Anthony Joshua, labelling him “a disgrace to boxing” for failing to agree a deal to take on WBC champion Deontay Wilder.
Fury, who ended a two-and-a-half year hiatus from the sport with a return in Manchester in April, has been very vocal in his proclamations about returning to the top of the division – and pulled no punches when talking of Joshua.
“I think it’s such a sad time for heavyweight boxing,” said Fury in a video posted on his official Twitter page.
“You’ve got the so-called super champion and golden boy, Anthony Joshua, and he is avoiding Deontay Wilder and will not fight him at any cost.” he continued.
Just imagine if I went to America & beat @BronzeBomber or at least had the nuts 🥜 to try! Unlike some pussys in this country…………. pic.twitter.com/SIO2WrXWjm

The self-styled ‘Gypsy King’ would go on to reference the breakdown in negotiations between Joshua and Wilder, before teasing a possible stateside showdown between himself and ‘The Bronze Bomber’.
“If you’re not going to fight someone for £40million, you’re not going to fight him for anything. It’s a disgrace and he’s a disgrace to boxing.” Fury stated.
“And I think it needs somebody good enough to step up and take on the challenges and not be afraid – not be afraid to take risks and go to people’s backyards and do it.”
With promoter Frank Warren revealing in an exclusive interview with Boxing Social that he had been in contact with Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel about a proposed bout between the pair, Fury alluded to a potential match-up with the WBC king.
“Can you imagine if I went to America and beat Deontay Wilder in America? After beating Klitschko in Germany?” said Fury.
“It would be sensational. It might happen. Who knows? Wait for the news.” he finished.
