Tyson Fury hasn’t spoken publicly since his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk last month, but the ‘Gypsy King’ has now broken his silence and sent a stern message to his rival ahead of their rematch later this year.
Fury had started the fight well and appeared to be ahead at the halfway stage, before the tide began to turn and Usyk scored a knockdown in the ninth round, which ultimately proved to be the difference on the scorecards.
There were questions over whether the rematch would take place, with it announced that the pair would meet again on December 21.
Fury has now spoken for the first time since the rematch was announced, posting a new training video on social media and insisting that he will be doing everything in his power to avenge his defeat.
“Listen up! I’ve conquered everything in boxing – titles, records, the lot. But I’ve never had to come back from a loss.
On December 21st in Riyadh, in the heart of the kingdom, the king will reclaim his throne and become undisputed. @usykaa , I’m coming for you! Get ready for the Gypsy King!
The path to redemption is all mine. I know what I have to do, I saw my shortcomings and best believe I am inevitable.”
Usyk has recently teased a move back down to cruiserweight if he overcomes Fury in the rematch, revealing his intention to try and become undisputed once again in the 200lb weight class.
It remains to be seen whether the Usyk vs. Fury rematch will be for the undisputed title once more, with the IBF belt expected to become vacant, allowing for a bout between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois to take place at Wembley Stadium in September.
Dubois defeated Filip Hrgovic earlier this month to win the interim version of the IBF strap, paving the way for the potential all-British showdown with Joshua.
