Carl Froch has weighed in with some advice for Tommy Fury moving forward following his victory over Jake Paul last weekend.
Fury edged out a split decision win over Paul at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia, landing a career high payday in the process.
And Froch told the Daily Express that he believes Fury would be best served chasing more lucrative fights in the crossover space, rather than return to the traditional boxing scene.
“After earning that money in a steady eight-rounder, I don’t know where the motivation will come from, or the mindset to want to train for 8-10 weeks for a pro fight. If I was Tommy I’d go down the celebrity boxing route.”
“I’d pretend to the public that I want to be a pro fighter and make out that I’m looking for those fights but in the meantime, I’d be looking at who is next – what’s KSI up to? What’s happening with this rematch with Jake Paul? Who else is there on the exhibition scene?”
After the win on Sunday night, Fury has been linked to a rematch with Paul, as well as fights with the American’s famous brother Logan and UK influencer KSI.
And big brother Tyson aired a similar opinion to Froch when asked on where Tommy should position himself as he moves forward with his career
“He’ll be headlining now forever. I’d like to see him fight a rematch with Jake Paul and fight Logan, his brother.”
Fury and Froch may get their wish, as Paul stated his desire to activate the contractual rematch clause and seek to avenge the first loss of his boxing career thus far.
