Tyson Fury will return to the ring in three months’ time.
The former unified heavyweight world champion is set to take on Tom Schwarz on June 15.
Fury, who hasn’t fought since his debatable draw against WBC champion Deontay Wilder back in December, will be fighting for the first time since signing a lucrative deal with US broadcaster ESPN.
The fight will take place at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas and be screened on BT Sport in the UK.
Schwarz, 24, is ranked number two in the world with the WBO and has 24 wins, with 18 coming via stoppage.
“When you start as a little kid, you dream of cracking America,” ‘The Gypsy King’, who will box in Las Vegas for the first time, said when the news of his return was confirmed. “I’m very fit, very ready and I can’t wait to fight.
“Schwarz is unbeaten, young, fresh and ambitious. I am going to go back [to America after the Wilder fight] and be on the biggest possible audience.”
Fury, Wilder and unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, who holds the WBO, WBA Super, IBO and IBF crowns, all now operate with different broadcasters in the USA, making fights theoretically tougher to make.
Bob Arum, who is Fury’s US promoter, believes the rematch between him and Wilder is inevitable – but the Alabama native must first get past Dominic Breazeale, his mandatory challenger, on May 18 when they meet at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“Assuming Fury wins this fight, he’ll have another appearance in the United States,” said Arum. “Then hopefully next year in February he’ll end up fighting Wilder.”
Fury added: “I have to take care of Schwarz, Wilder has to take care of Dominic Breazeale and then I say we get it on.”
