There has always been plenty of amusing back and forth between Tyson Fury and Eddie Hearn and now ‘The Gypsy King’ has responded to the Matchroom CEO over his prediction for the undisputed fight this weekend.
Given that Hearn promotes British heavyweight star Anthony Joshua, it’s no surprise that he has always backed his own man and liked to talk Fury down.
He once claimed he turned down the opportunity to work with Fury at the start of his return to the ring following two years out back between 2015 and 2017, and he has given him his flowers for the fine performances against Deontay Wilder.
He was however quick to criticise his less than impressive performance against Francis Ngannou last time out in October and was happy to gloat when his man Joshua did a much better job against the same man in March when Joshua flattened Ngannou inside two rounds.
Hearn will be looking on with eagerness this weekend, and though he has flip-flopped on his predictions for the fight, he has now revealed he is hoping for Fury for win in order to set up a potentially huge all-British fight with Joshua which would be one of the biggest fights on the century by any measure.
Speaking to Boxing Social, Fury has reacted to the news that Hearn’s latest view is that he beats Uysk by stoppage.
“It’s all smoke and mirrors. If a bit of training and a sunbed can make you think I’m in fantastic shape. I could have just gone on a weight loss diet and not even trained. If it changes people’s opinions cause you look fat one day then thin the next then it is what it is.
“People’s opinions have never meant much to me. My wife’s and my family’s opinions matter but other than that, opinions of people are not really important to me. If they were, then I wouldn’t be here would I, and everyone’s got to agree with that.”
He was then asked if he had a message for the fans ahead of the contest in Saudi Arabia while people have been assessing his best five wins ahead of this weekend.
“Looking forward to Saturday night, I’ve trained really hard for you guys to put on a really good show, tune in Saturday night to watch me become undisputed, boom.”
