With just over seven weeks to go until the long-awaited undisputed heavyweight title showdown between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, the full card for the event has now been announced, with a shock fight added to the bill.
Fury and Usyk do battle in their highly-anticipated clash on May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as a first undisputed heavyweight champion in nearly 25 years will be crowned.
The two men were originally set to fight in February before a cut suffered by Fury in sparring forced the postponement of the bout, with penalties since put in place to try and prevent any further delays.
The undercard was pushed back too, and it has now been confirmed that those fights will remain in May, including Jai Opetaia facing Mairis Briedis for the vacant IBF cruiserweight title, and Joe Cordina defending his IBF super-featherweight title vs Anthony Cacace.
A new fight that wasn’t previously scheduled for February has since been added though, and it is another that may have huge implications in the heavyweight division.
Undefeated former European champion Agit Kabeyel was last in action on the Day of Reckoning card in December, where he caused a big upset when he defeated previously unbeaten Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Kabeyel will now look to hand another fighter a first defeat, as it has been announced by Turki Al-Sheikh that he will do battle with highly-rated Cuban Frank Sanchez on the May show, with the winner potentially eyeing a future fight against Fury or Usyk.
Kabeyel had previously teased that he would be part of the June 1 event in Saudi Arabia, that features Dmitry Bivol against Artur Beterbiev, plus the Matchroom vs. Queensberry 5 on 5.
Other fights on May 18 include Sergey Kovalev against Robin Safar, Mark Chamberlain taking on Joshua Wahem, Moses Itauma fighting Ilja Mezecev, plus David Nyika and Isaac Lowe are in action.
